Where There Are Not Enough Doctors
Abstract
This paper shows how a busy general hospital Out-patient Department may be run without the need for many doctors. It describes the 'Sorter System' used in the hospitals of tthe United Mission to Nepal over the last 15 years. Advantages and possible disadvantages compared to a traditional 'doctor-only' system are discussed, in the context of the health needs of Nepal.
